Your Personal Learning Network: Feeding Yourself & Feeding Others

JanuaryYour Personal Learning Network: Feeding Yourself & Feeding Others
  • Reflecting & Connecting
    • Please visit your personal learning journal (linked at top of page)
      • Review your post from our Reflecting Forward activity in October
      • Consider the responses you posted to each question...
        • How did your actions, language and priorities support your vision/mission as an Early Adopter iCoach (aka your destination postcard)?
        • In what ways did they dilute your efforts?
        • What goal will you set for yourself to act toward in the next four weeks?
        • How will you measure your achievement?
        • What specific strategies will you use to keep your own "optimism and hope alive"?
      • Reflect on the goal you set for yourself...
        • How is that goal evident in your every day actions, language and priorities? I did a great job of being out and going into classrooms at the beginning. As the benchmark and practice STAAR seasons have begun, I am finding this more difficult. I am going to make it a priority to calendar times in teachers' rooms and stick to my schedule. I have learned some valuable lessons with calendaring and being prepared ahead of time for meetings, as I never know what might suddenly arise to take my time/plan.

        • What have you been able to achieve, given your efforts? I have built more relationships with my teachers and have really grown professionally with learning how to effectively work with adults. I have more confidence in me and my role and am ready to learn more so that I can be more helpful to my teachers with their growth.

        • What specific strategies have you used to keep your own "optimism and hope" alive (Developing A Positive Mindset)? I have read books and articles on working with different styles of people and how to stay true and authentic to myself at the same time. I talk regularly with other iCoaches (most especially EA ones) and Sara, whether it be for moral support, ideas, or mentoring. This has helped TREMENDOUSLY!!! It has also built a safe group of colleagues that I can be honest with and receive help and support on this journey.

        • In what areas would you find additional support helpful? The thought of not having this special time with the EA iCoaches and Sara next year is extremely disappointing and we've not been told this will be gone for sure. So being able to have this support network that I feel is really strong and invaluable next year would be great!

        • How will you continue to "seek the small wins" and "illuminate the bright spots"? I'm considering creating a special journal for my "small wins" so that I will always remember them, especially when I'm in a dry, dark place in my role and journey. Illuminating the "bright spots" will be through technology and also on a more personal note through cards, emails, etc.
